After surviving cancer himself, founder Aaron Grunke came face-to-face with this lack of post-treatment support. Many people don’t realize the affect cancer treatments can have on one’s physical abilities. Whether you lose weight or gain, most all become frail. This not only takes a toll on your physical wellness, but also your mental wellness.

Founder Aaron Grunke knows firsthand the impact cancer has one ones physical health even months after they’re cancer-free. In 2004 Aaron was diagnosed with an aggressive type of Testicular Cancer two days before he began his senior year of college.  After three surgeries and three intense regimens of chemotherapy, Aaron was pronounced cancer-free in 2006. As a young cancer survivor, Aaron quickly learned that he wasn’t capable of the physical activity that he could easily handle just two years earlier.

Aaron tried various fitness programs on his own. But nearly three years after trying to regain his strength on his own, he realized he needed help and sought the council of a personal trainer. Through this trainer’s guidance and expertise, Aaron was able to determine which exercises and nutritional choices work best for his body type. After years of thinking he’d never be “in-shape” again, Aaron discovered a new passion for health and wellness.

Aaron’s journey led him to the concept of Survivor Fitness. Fighting cancer is a scary enough experience – recovering shouldn’t have to be. Through Survivor Fitness, Aaron hopes that no cancer survivor has to face the physical recovery alone.
